This operating system is similar to iOS 14 and better than the previous operating system. It is completely and totally changed which is wonderful. For new and professional users it is very valuable. Therefore, we all were waiting for the new operating system of Mac, and finally, it is with us in order to use it. In macOS Big Sur, most of the things are redesigned due to which it is popular. Every year WWDC will be the best day for Apple company. They introduce tons of gadgets version. However, this year they announced a new operating system macOS Big Sur, iPadOS 14, iOS 14, WatchOS 7, and many more. Also the next wonderful operating system for Mac which blows the mind of the user. The previous versions were macOS 10 and this time it is somehow advance, macOS Big Sur in 11 version which is a great update for us. Some of the rumors are saying that macOS Big Sur has been taken from the iOS 14 version of the iPhone. The macOS Big Sur is totally changed and pretty new operating system out there. The features include a customizable control center, in which you can manage the brightness of your macOS Big Sur with one toggle button, do not disturb option and many setting you will find there.

In macOS Big Sur operating system, tons of application has been redesigned for example Photos, Mail, Notes, and many more. Apple has introduced new features of customizable, message, icon, group, chats, new photo, interface, emoji stickers, and many more amazing features. One of the biggest updates in macOS Big Sur which gives the ability to the user in order to quickly access apps and files. It has also hover mouse on various kinds of icons and apps. Apple also updated Safari on macOS Big Sur which works 50% faster than Google Chrome. Nowadays Safari is better and popular more than other browsers. There is a piece of good news for Windows users too, you are now able to use the new operating system macOS Big Sur on your Windows 10 PC. If you don’t have Mac to install and use macOS Big Sur on it then you have several methods to go for it. You can also dual boot macOS Big Sur with Windows 10 but it needs much time which is not great for us. In Windows 10, you can use macOS Big Sur through virtualization which is the best option. However, in the era of Technology, there are tons of amazing virtual machine software in the market such as VMware Workstation, VirtualBox, Hyper-V, and many more. But for the purpose of this article, we are going to use VirtualBox in order to use macOS Big Sur.

We are going to use VirtualBox to install macOS Big Sur because it is free of cost to use which you don’t need to purchase it. It is a completely open-source platform that allows the user to install the operating system on it.  However, in VirtualBox, you can install different kinds of operating system such as Linux, macOS, Windows 10, Ubuntu, and many more. Once you install macOS Big Sur on it then you can do whatever you want in it. In order to install macOS Big Sur or other operating systems, you will need its vmdk file to install in it. Therefore, I will guide each and everything on How to Install macOS Big Sur on VirtualBox on Windows 10 PC.

Step 1. Download Required Things

Before installing macOS Big Sur on VirtualBox, you have to download some required file which you will need while installing. Click on the link down below and download all of them one by one.

  • Download VirtualBox
  • macOS Big Sur ISO
  • VirtualBox Extension Pack
  • Download WinRAR

You have to download all of them because these are very important to have in Windows PC in order to install macOS Big Sur. Firstly, download VirtualBox in which you are going to install macOS Big Sur. Secondly, you have to download macOS Big Sur VMDK (Virtual Machine Disk), it is its ISO file which you insert to install macOS Big Sur on VirtualBox. Third, make sure to download VirtualBox Extension Pack that is a kind of helper tool for VirtualBox which helps to install any operating system. If you download WinRAR then it will probably help you in order to extract the macOS Big Sur VMDK file.

Step 2. Install VirtualBox on your Windows PC

When you have successfully downloaded VirtualBox on your PC. Then you have to install in order to run it. The installation process is the same which you do with other installers.  Or follow the below guidance.

1. Double-click on the VirtualBox, once the wizard appear, simply click next.

2. Click Next to go one step ahead.

3. The setup of VirtualBox will be ready to install, click next.

4. Again click next.

5. Wait for the installation process so you have for some moments.

6. When the installation is successfully completed then simply click finish and you will get VirtualBox on your Windows 10 PC.

Step 3. Create a New Virtual Machine for macOS Big Sur

Once you downloaded the VirtualBox, you have to create a new virtual machine in it. Whenever you want to install any operating system on VirtualBox then you will need to create a specific virtual machine. Therefore, in order to create a new virtual machine for macOS Big Sur then follow the below guidance.

In order to create a new virtual machine, launch the VirtualBox and click on the New option.

Another will be pop up, write the name of your virtual machine (macOS Big Sur), select the installation folder, choose the type Mac OS X and version must be Mac OS X 64 Bit.

Now you have to increase the size of memory for your virtual machine. Keep in mind how much your increase that much you will have the performance and click Next.

To insert the macOS Big Sur ISO file, choose the third option which is to use an existing virtual hard disk file and click on the Folder icon (yellow icon).

There you have to click on Add option then make sure to choose macOS Big Sur VMDK file.

Select the VMDK file which you have inserted and click Choose.

Once the macOS Big Sur is inserted successfully to VirtualBox and finally click on the Create option.

Step 4. Customize the Virtual Machine Settings

I hope you have successfully created a new virtual machine. In order to have better performance while using macOS Big Sur. Therefore, you have to edit or customize the settings of the virtual machine which you have created recently. We are not going to edit all the settings but some of them that are required while installation process. So, you need to follow the below guidance to customize the Virtual Machine settings.

In order to customize the virtual machine settings, select the virtual machine which you have just created. And click on Settings [gear icon] on the top bar.

When the settings window pops up, you have to select the System tab from the left side. And on the Motherboard option make sure to uncheck the Floppy disk.

Head over towards the Process option and you have to increase the number of processors.

Now select the Display tab from the left side and make sure to increase the size of video memory up to 128MB.

Choose the USB tab and select the third option which is USB 3.0 (xHCI), Controller, and finally click on OK.

Step 5. Add VirtualBox Commands using CMD (Command Prompt)

You have to add some commands for VirtualBox. Because the VirtualBox commands are the commands which solve most of the issues while installing the operating system. We mostly use it on VirtualBox on Windows 10 PC which helps the issue for installing macOS operating system. Keep in mind that if you don’t add the VirtualBox commands then you will not have the ability to install a macOS operating system especially on VirtualBox.

At first, you have to note the name of your virtual machine which you created in VirtualBox. Keep in mind that your VirtualBox must be closed while adding the commands to VirtualBox. Then copy and paste the command in your notepad of your PC. Download the VirtualBox from the required things section above.

When you open the VirtualBox commands with Notepad on PC, you have to use the Replace tool to change the VM Name with your virtual machine.

Now you have to close the virtual machine completely otherwise it will not work.

After that, you have to launch the CMD (Command Prompt). In the start menu, search for CMD then right-click on that and click on Run as Administrator.

When you have opened the command prompt on your PC, you have to copy and paste the first line of command then paste it to command prompt and hit the Enter button. After that, copy and paste the remaining lines of commands and hit the enter button.

Step 6. Start the Virtual Machine

  • Click on the Start Button. A black screen will appear so you have to wait.
  • When the virtual machine starts, you will see some code and black screen in the background. You have to wait until the Apple logo pops up.
  • Select your favorite Language and click Continue.
  • Choose Disk Utility and click Continue.
  • Now you have to select your hard disk and click on the Erase button.
  • Give a new to your hard disk and click on the Erase option.
  • Quit the disk utility on the Window.
  • Click on Install macOS and Continue.
  • Be agree to terms and conditions.
  • After that, choose the installation disk and click Continue. It will take some time to complete the first part of the installation.

Step 7. Clean Installation of macOS Big Sur

  • Select your country and continue.
  • Choose a keyboard layout and continue.
  • Read data & privacy and continue.
  • You can also transfer data to your Mac but you have to click on Not Now because you can do later on.
  • Click on Set up Later then don’t sign in because you can do it later on.
  • Be agree to terms and conditions and click Continue.
  • Enter your Full Name, Account Name, Password, and Hint and click on Continue.
  • If you want to edit the Express Set up then click on customize setting or simply click on Continue.
  • The Analytics page will be opened, just click on Continue.
  • In the On-Screen Time window, click setup later.
  • Select the theme which you want. You can choose dark or light mode it depends on you.
  • Wait for some seconds and you will have the login screen.
