Step 1. Download Required Things
Before beginning to the installation process. There are many required files which you have to download and will be in need while installing on VMware Workstation. However, you have to click on the download links below and download one by one.

Step 2. Install VMware Workstation on your Windows PC
You have to download the VMware Workstation from the above-given link and make sure to wait until it downloads. Once it is downloaded completely then start to install it on your PC, if you have you installed it already then be sure it is working properly and well. If it is already installed on your PC then you are allowed to skip this step.
Step 3. Install macOS Unlocker on VMware
VMware Unlocker is a lightweight and handy tool that allows the user to have the Mac OS X option on VMware Workstation/Player. Keep in mind that if you don’t install the macOS Unlocker then you won’t be able to install macOS on VMware. It will give energy to VMware in order to install macOS on VMware.
You have to download the macOS Unlocker from the given link above. The file compressed with WinRAR, make sure to extract then you can open the file. Step 4. Create a New Virtual Machine for macOS Big Sur
When you have installed VMware Workstation on your Windows PC and as well as installed macOS Unlocker. Whenever you want to install any kind of operating system on VMware then you will need to create a special virtual machine for that. In order to create a new virtual machine for macOS Big Sur, you have to follow the below guidance.
Open the VMware Workstation on your Windows PC which you have installed. Once then the main window will be opened, in order to create a new virtual machine you have to click on the Create a New Virtual Machine.
The virtual machine wizard will be pop up. There you have to select the first option which is Typical (Recommended) then click Next.
Now choose the third option which is I will install the operating system later and click Next.
In the next window, you will be asked to select the guest operating system. Therefore, you have to select the Apple Mac OS X and the version should be 10.16 then click Next.
Write a name for your virtual machine, simply I have written macOS Big Sur and select the location where you want to install macOS Big Sur and click Next.
After that, select maximum disk storage for macOS Big Sur, the size should above 50GB otherwise it won’t support it. And select the second option which is Store virtual hard disk as a single file then click Next.
On Ready to create virtual machine window, you have to click on the Customize Hardware.
Increase the Memory size up to 4GB or higher for the proper performance.
Next, head over towards the Processor tab from the left size and increase of CPU Processor.
Select New CD/DVD (SATA) from the left side then choose Use ISO image file and click Browse.
Now find out the macOS Big Sur ISO Image File which you have downloaded from above. If you don’t have it yet then go on the first step and download from there.
You are done now. In order to save the changes to the virtual machine make sure to click Close.
Finally, you have successfully created a new virtual machine for macOS Big Sur. Therefore, you have to click on the Finish.
Step 5. Edit VMX File of macOS Big Sur
Now you have to open the virtual machine folder where you have selected. If you didn’t specify the location then probably the default location is Document > Virtual Machine. You have to right-click on the macOS Big Sur.vmx and open it via Notepad.
When it opens, you have to scroll down till the bottom of notepad and add the below commands and save the notepad, you will be done.

Step 6. Start the Virtual Machine
You have to open the VMware and select the virtual machine which you have created and click on the Power on this Virtual Machine.
Wait until you get the Apple logo.
Once it opens, you have to select the Language make sure to select English then click on the Next arrow.
You have to select Disk Utility and click Continue.
You will see all the disk for macOS Big Sur, you have to choose VMware Virtual SATA Hard Drive Media. And make sure to click Erase to clean the disk.
Next, you will need to provide a name simply to write macOS Big Sur. The format should be APFS and finally click Erase to clean.
When the disk is erased, you have to click on the Done to close it.
In order to close the disk utility, you have to click on the close button.
Once you are in recovery mode, you have to choose the Install macOS to install macOS Big Sur.
When you get the window, simply click on Continue.
On the next window, you have to be Agree to the terms of the software license agreement.
Then, you have to select the available disk and make sure to click on the Install to get the installation process.
Finally, macOS Big Sur will be restarted 2 or 3 times in order to complete the installation process. You don’t have to touch anything just leave with itself. The installation process will take 20 to 30 minutes to be completed, wait, and be patient.
Step 7. Installation Process of macOS Big Sur
- Choose your country and region.
- Select a Keyboard layout that you want to use in macOS Big Sur.
- If you want to enable the Accessibility features on macOS Big Sur, simple click on Not now because you can set up later on.
- In the data & privacy window, read it out properly and click Continue.
- Click on the Set up later and don’t sign in because you can add on everything is done.
- Be agree to terms and conditions.
- Write out your Full name, Account name, Password, Hint, and click on Continue.
8. Do you want to customize the Express set up if yes then click on the Customize setting otherwise click on the Continue.
9. The Analytics window will pop up, simply click on Continue.
10. Finally, you have to choose the Appearance theme and click Continue. If you want to use dark mode then go ahead.
